The Musagetes organization invited us - Lucia Babina and Marjetica Potrč - to Guelph to contribute to the 1m2 programme because they saw our art project The Cook, the Farmer, His Wife and Their Neighbour (realized in Amsterdam in 2009) as having the potential to change society by transforming the culture of living.
We went to Guelph to learn about the city, its people, and their concerns. We brought with us knowledge harvested from our experience with the community garden and community kitchen in the Amsterdam project. The key concepts of that project animated our discussions in Guelph and provided a door for understanding the city and its specific rural–urban condition.
In September 3 - 9, 2012, we will organize four events in the Brant neighborhood with the help of Guelph's based Musagetes, in collaboration with the Brant community, institutions and organizations active in the neighborhood.
